Downstream users of cobalt and cobalt compounds are welcome to join the cobalt consortia as Associate members for the purposes of data sharing.
In principle, the burden for the registration of substances, and the development of Exposure Scenarios for their manufacture and use, rests upon the manufacturers and importers. However, there may be some instances where it would be appropriate for downstream users of substances to contribute to the work of the Consortia.
Note that Associate membership is not a requirement for participation and co-funding of consortium studies or projects.
The Funding Structure Document outlines the possibilities of cost-sharing in relation to specific projects and activities between consortium members and Associate members, such as local exposure assessments.
If you would like to know more about the requirements of REACH for cobalt compounds or about the activities of the Cobalt REACH Consortia, please contact the Secretariat at: REACHinfo@cobaltinstitute.org.
